I know KEF uses their metal-ceramic or whatever woofer. Guess those are OK and have come a long way, but still there are many audiophiles who prefer old-school paper cone woofers, saying they sound more natural. I often wondered about this.
I mean woofers have gone the gambit from paper, reinforced paper, wood pulp, polypropylene, aluminum, ceramics, and even other exotic materials.
Is there any consensus or actual science behind the use of these materials regarding their ability to convey quality sound?
If I took an average audiophile blindfolded into a room and told him to listen, could he actually hear a difference and pick out the material of a woofer from the sound?
Audiophile Tests Every KEF
Useful findings I would say.
