Accuphase amplifier choice

Hello All,

I have decided to upgrade my Parasound A21 amplifier looking for a more refined sound. The following are the amplifiers that I have in my mind:

Accuphase A-48s
Accuphase P-4600
Coda No. 8 (meterless)
Coda 16.0 (meterless)

Currently I am leaning largely to Accuphase. My dealer says that the Class A 48s will sound better with my ProAc D48R. But I am worried that I will lose dynamics since the Accuphase is only 50W into 8 Ohms. But it doubles all the way into 1 ohm.

The P-4600 is a higher wattage amp and I think it should be able to drive the D48R with ease because it doubles down to 2 ohm load. So I am not concerned with it's ability to drive the ProAcs.

I do have some feedback on the P-4600 from another thread here and appreciate it. But now looking for some comparisons.

Has anyone compared/experienced the Accuphase Vs Coda amplifiers? Any feedback is appreciated.

Have you looked into Soulnote? I almost bought Accuphase before discovering Soulnote. Also had a Coda #8 and a Vitus.

Which Accuphase amp did you listen or compare before purchasing SoulNote. I got their E2 phono equalizer on my audition list :-)

@lalitk

It was an E 4000 which I almost bought after a good purchased a E 5000 but It sounded like the midrange region was a little exaggerated and not as refined as the Soulnote A2. Another good friend who was very familiar with Accuphase, Luxman and Soulnote sent me a youtube tube link comparing A2 against E 4000 and you can definitely hear the differences in the midrange with the A2 sounding more real and natural.

These are wonderful electronics and you would be happy with the lot of choices.

Video is timestamp and can toggle back and forth.

Appreciate your feedback. It will be really interesting to compare them side by side when I get the chance.

Thanks for the comparisons @mm1tt77

@toronto416 , I remember having responded to one of your threads. The A300 is a dream amp. The point is - will the A-48S be able to drive my ProAcs to the levels I am accustom to?

My room is 16' W X 19' L X 8' H. I sit 8.5' from the speakers
My general listening level is between 75db to 82db.
The room is well treated.

@wig , Thanks for the Soulnote recommendation. But there are no power amps in the budget range I am looking into. I am not interested in an integrated amplifier.
