You have to back up your work, like in the 90s!
There must be tractor forums out there running more sophisticated software than Audiogon.
Audiogon has gone too far, too fast with the ads!!!
I enjoy this site and completely understand and support their monetizing it more with ads, but it’s gone too far, too fast IMHO. First it ran far too slowly, which they thankfully have improved, but we’re still left with ads popping up all over the place to the point of being overly intrusive, distracting, and annoying at least in my experience. Past that, and even worse, if I try to post a response longer than a few sentences the site often refreshes and I lose what I’ve written, and that’s even with me proactively saving it as I’m typing (it happened twice while I typed this!!!) — this rarely happened before the advertising deluge. I just wish they’d back it off a bit at least until they can work out whatever limitations are causing these frequent and very frustrating issues. Or maybe it’s just me?
@mitch2 Yes, but that was less frequent than my post just disappearing due to a page refresh that seemed to happen every five minutes or so but is still very annoying. But, to be fair, I’ve been happily using Brave Browser and the login thing happens there too although not all that frequently. What happens more often is when I click “post” I’m redirected to verify I’m human, which often is fine but if enough time has passed while on one page I’ll get an “Oops” message and lose my post. So as @devinplombier mentioned (Ha! BTW) I still copy my responses before hitting “post” just as a precaution, but overall the experience on Brave has been revelatory coming from the disaster I was experiencing previously. All that said, I just briefly went back to A’gon using my other browser (Safari) and noticed they’ve removed the ads on the right border and just the ones on the top and bottom were still there, so it appears they’ve done something and the site did seem to be working faster during the short time I was there. I’ll try posting some responses there to see if the dreaded “refresh monster” is still at work, and if it is I’ll be outta there again cause I’m not putting up with that crap anymore — absolutely intolerable and inexcusable. I’m also gonna recommend they look into reducing the frequency of us having to verify we’re human — I know that’s important to avoid the previous Bot disaster so am fine with it, but it seems to happen more frequently than may be necessary to be effective and is likewise disruptive and very annoying when it ends up erasing a response in progress. In any event, it appears A’gon has made good on their word and has at least done something to try to fix it, which is much appreciated, but time will tell. |
Can you please send your comments and screenshots to [email protected]. Please include as much info as possible so their Developers can review and fix it.. Obviously, this should not be happening. Thanks. BTW, I have switched to the Brave Browser and everything is working

I agree all, it is better than it was, which is probably why I did not type out first in word and then copy and paste. @hgeifman - there is nothing much to show. I finished the post, clicked "Post Your Response" and it immediately went to a log-in page. I was for sure logged in when I started typing because just a minute or so before I tried to post, I had refreshed my "Activity Feed for Mitch2" page. Things clearly are not what they used to be but I also get that Audiogon needs the income from the ads, and that there is a much higher level of security necessary to operate a site like this than previously. |
