Audiogon has gone too far, too fast with the ads!!!

I enjoy this site and completely understand and support their monetizing it more with ads, but it’s gone too far, too fast IMHO.  First it ran far too slowly, which they thankfully have improved, but we’re still left with ads popping up all over the place to the point of being overly intrusive, distracting, and annoying at least in my experience.  Past that, and even worse, if I try to post a response longer than a few sentences the site often refreshes and I lose what I’ve written, and that’s even with me proactively saving it as I’m typing (it happened twice while I typed this!!!) — this rarely happened before the advertising deluge. I just wish they’d back it off a bit at least until they can work out whatever limitations are causing these frequent and very frustrating issues.  Or maybe it’s just me?

Again, when I am in Audiogon (and only when I am in Audiogon) I'm getting a lot of ads opening in new tans on Chrome. All of them take 1-3 seconds to load and some of them cause Chrome to restart. It's not a Chrome issue. I haven't tried this from another browser. Maybe I should

Brave Browser. Before using go to the settings page. Set up the adblock features in the filter list. Brave has many incorporated/integrated without doing that but fine tuning the settings helps even more.

You'll never want to use Chrome again.

Well, I finally had enough.  For about a month it’s been absolute torture on this site with slow performance and frequently having my responses erased in mid sentence by constant refreshing of the screen brought about — I assume — by the proliferation and increased digital deluge of the constantly refreshing ads here. Regardless of the reason, I’m beyond done so finally downloaded the Brave Browser recommended here, which took all of one minute, and OH.  MY.  GOD!!!  Just using this browser as is and not adding any additional filters my experience here has been completely transformed!  There are no more ads, which by themselves weren’t all that annoying but still a little invasive at times, but the speed and responsiveness of the site is multiples of what it was — it’s now lightning fast by comparison.  And, most importantly, I can now type this without fear of losing everything or having to constantly save my post midway through just to avoid losing it, which was absurd and had become downright maddening.  I know and appreciate that A’gon is working on fixing the problem, but for now I’m thrilled with Brave and may well end up making it my default browser.  Thank you to those who recommended Brave — it’s a true game changer!!!

Most annoying part of it is just when you're going to click on something of interest to view the page moves, for an ad refresh, which causes you to click on something of irrelevance to what you wanted to see.

Waaay annoying!

@joysjane

It is time for you to take some immediate action.  I agree the refreshing issue you describe above is impossible to live with and needs to be fixed.

Please send an email to Audiogon customer support at [email protected] and describe your annoying ad refresh issue with full details. Please include the computer you are using, the browser, software versions, is all software up to date, etc. Please also include several screen shots for them to see.

This information will enable Audiogon Developer’s to review the issue and fix it. Unfortunately, this is the only way to get the annoying ad use fixed.

i added the Brave Browser to my iPhone and made it the default browser in Safari.  I am testing it and so far see no ads appearing in Audiogon.  Thanks.
