@Admin you mean the pop-up pages that restart Google? I'll try. It only happens on Audiogon.
Audiogon has gone too far, too fast with the ads!!!
I enjoy this site and completely understand and support their monetizing it more with ads, but it’s gone too far, too fast IMHO. First it ran far too slowly, which they thankfully have improved, but we’re still left with ads popping up all over the place to the point of being overly intrusive, distracting, and annoying at least in my experience. Past that, and even worse, if I try to post a response longer than a few sentences the site often refreshes and I lose what I’ve written, and that’s even with me proactively saving it as I’m typing (it happened twice while I typed this!!!) — this rarely happened before the advertising deluge. I just wish they’d back it off a bit at least until they can work out whatever limitations are causing these frequent and very frustrating issues. Or maybe it’s just me?

Well, I finally had enough. For about a month it’s been absolute torture on this site with slow performance and frequently having my responses erased in mid sentence by constant refreshing of the screen brought about — I assume — by the proliferation and increased digital deluge of the constantly refreshing ads here. Regardless of the reason, I’m beyond done so finally downloaded the Brave Browser recommended here, which took all of one minute, and OH. MY. GOD!!! Just using this browser as is and not adding any additional filters my experience here has been completely transformed! There are no more ads, which by themselves weren’t all that annoying but still a little invasive at times, but the speed and responsiveness of the site is multiples of what it was — it’s now lightning fast by comparison. And, most importantly, I can now type this without fear of losing everything or having to constantly save my post midway through just to avoid losing it, which was absurd and had become downright maddening. I know and appreciate that A’gon is working on fixing the problem, but for now I’m thrilled with Brave and may well end up making it my default browser. Thank you to those who recommended Brave — it’s a true game changer!!! |
