Expensive Tube Amplifiers

I see many $4K to over $8K amps on eBay. Who would pay this a of money. A few years ago these amps were 25% of the current cost. I can buy a 'right' vintage amp and rebuild it and likely get same quality sound at these expensive amps for about $500 including parts. The 'right' amp is with quality and larger audio transformers.

I’ve heard many different iteration of Western Electric 124 amps that sound very good.  Deja Vu uses very good vintage output transformers in these amps—Chicago’s, Acrosounds, 1940’s Hammonds, Peerless, and for the very best builds, original Western Electric 171C transformers.  These amps are hard to beat if you have high efficiency dpeakers.

I recently picked up a pair of Volti Lucera. I’m really enjoying the sound. Never had horns before. Apparently the design is a hybrid. Traditional woofer and mid/high compression drivers I think. Vu is making his own as well. Sound great too.

@joeycastillo @lewm @dogearedaudio Thank you so much for taking the time to respond and educate me. I’ll look into push-pull that are at least 50 watts or higher, as I’m happy with my speakers and only bought them a year ago. Cheers.
