Recommended a highly resolving cartridge

Hi all, all tube system that is warm with a good midrange presence inherently. I’m looking for a cartridge that offers high detail / resolution and wide / deep soundstage. This is on a stock SL-1200G TT. On a side note, if anyone has experience “upgrading” the stock tonearm on a G please chime in. I’ve read conflicting reports of the merits of such a move, and while I’m very happy with the tone of my TT and am not looking to move off of it, I am curious about a tonearm swap (must allow for headshell swapping).

Since Audio Technica is mentioned, search the archives here and SH forums on the ART9.

There's plenty of rave reviews for a reason. The price has spiked like most things, but still less than other $2K+ carts($1699) and competes with maybe $5K+ models.

Soundsmith is another to look at.

I'm a recent Lyra Delos convert. Research the many threads on it. I found one for 1/3 of new and low mileage.

fastricky-

I would not take anyone’s advice on a forum for what’s better for your ears.

"ART9 vs Kleos, which is better for my parameters?"

Maybe an ART20(next step up $3200) might be a better shoot out? Kleos is arguably big step up in $/performance? No personal experience with the ART20, but reviews suggest a worthy investment over the ART9.

I’m hearing all the fuss read about the Delos. Buying full retail Delos vs ART9- I believe quality of the table/phono and everything makes it difficult to decide.

Delos does have another level of refinement overall particularly in the highs over in the ART9 in my setup.

Maybe one of those moments you simply have to try whichever for yourself.

@OP "if anyone has experience “upgrading” the stock tonearm on a G please chime in"

I wouldn’t touch it! SL1200G is beautifully integrated TT, allows to accommodate most of high end carts.

I tried to use heavy platter of SP10G on my SL1200G, - awesome sound!

Appreciate the comments all, I’m leaning towards a Kleos right now. Hopefully I can land a trade for my Koetsu. Any more thoughts please chime in and thanks for another comment on not touching the stock tonearm! 🍻
