Best Server To Run Roon Core

Hi Folks,

I don’t currently run ROON, but would like to begin correctly in order to give it a chance - and I understand that server (hardware) on which Roon core is installed is important for SQ (due to noise reduction and other factors).

What are the best hardware for SQ and usability where ROON core should be installed and why (be it audiophile dedicated servers or modified PCs)? Please comment on the rest of your setup for context if you could.

Thank you in advance.

If I am not mistaken, you may have tried xact server in the past. I recently visited the site to see what’s new, and the n1 immediately caught my attention. What a beautiful piece of tech, inside and out. I am quite happy with I’ve got but can’t help wondering if n1 would be an improvement over Tele Opt Bridge. Check it out,

@lalitk Ah catnip! Yes that's a tank of a switch. So the Telegartner M12 Gold, JCAT Optimo 3 Duo Power Supply and English Electric 8Switch Ethernet Switch would be retired? Then just the N1 or OPT BRIDGE 1000M Optical Isolator would be used? I'd like having less in the chain.  Have you been in touch with Marcin? (Kids, He's behind Jcat and is very helpful)

Ok folks what does this have to do with a Roon Core? How you filter your ethernet matters; think of it like you would having clean power for you gear. If you have a revealing system, then using the old blue wire straight out of the wall can be improved upon.

I am afraid so!  We don’t know how n1 impact the overall sound but going by Marcin reputation and his choice of premium parts, meticulous design, it’s probably the switch to try for anyone with a ultra high end streaming system.

PS: I’m holding off to all the overseas purchases until this damn tariff thing dies down.

For years I’ve used a Nucleus to an Ayre QX-5 Twenty DAC via Ethernet.   The QX-5 connects to an Ayre AX-5 Twenty integrated via balanced analog that drives a pair of KEF Reference 1s.

I’ve never had a problem and think the sound quality is excellent.
