Interconnects/Cables of your choice, and why?

This can include the following:

----------------------------------------

- Balanced interconnects

- RCA interconnects

- TOSLINK Cables

- SPDIF (Coax) Cables

- Ethernet Cables

- USB Cables (USB-A)

- USB Type C (data-line cables)

-  HDMI Cables

I’ll share what I use too, later on. Once this discussion post receives some responses. Let’s talk about cables for knowledge transfer and making the right purchasing decisions. Sometimes it's just fluff, other times it's the real deal.

Thanks to all for sharing so far. I hope more members will chime in as well. I think it’s great for members to showcase the merits of our cables. This presents the possibility that they would sound right in a fellow member’s system. Makes shopping for cables easier, rather than "hit and miss" when we’re just experimenting.

- Balanced interconnects (XLR)

LynPro XLR’s; better than typical pro-grade.

- RCA interconnects

John’s Silver Plated PTFE Wire Shop - ebay seller.

John’s Silver Plated PTFE Wire Shop | eBay Stores

Cables are at custom lengths and made of mil-spec silver plated wire with a special silver bearing solder. REAN connectors and Cross-Linked ETFE insulation. I have found them to be extremely clean and neutral, more-so than any many others I’ve ever tried. Adding nothing and subtracting nothing from the sound; only allowing components to shine as though they are one unit, rather than two. No grain, no veil, like looking through a polished window. Also very suitable/compatible with/for tube amplifiers and tube source components (same benefits)

- TOSLINK Cables

Velleman Glass Fiber. spring-loaded Toslink-Toslink connectors. Much better than PMMA (plastic) which is inferior. If anyone should buy it, be careful when handling to prevent micro-fractures if/when bending sharply. You want to handle the cable like a baby snake.

- SPDIF (Coax) Cables

Hosa DRA-501 RCA S/PDIF Coax cable, very good but glass fiber is better anyway. I may upgrade in the future.

- Ethernet Cables

KabelDirekt – CAT 8.1, Gaming Edition with Heavy-Duty Braiding

- USB Cables (USB-A)

Custom made; with passive components between data lines to reject/nullify common mode and differential mode noise. Huge improvement over standard printer cables or any other USB-A cable. Inquire if interested and I can provide a link to the seller if they’re still selling.

- USB Type C (data-line cables)

ULT-UNITE 80Gbps USB4 Cable 8K UHD Type C 240W 1.2m; over-engineered, amazing build quality.

ULT-UNITE Thunderbolt 5 (Thunder-bolt 5 Cable 120Gbps Data Sync 240W) shortest length if possible.

-  HDMI Cables

ULT-UNITE HDMI Cable, flat or with a striking resemblance to their USB4 cables above. Best build quality and performance. Otherwise, go for optical HDMI cables.

OP I’ve not heard of any of the cables you’re using.  What’s the rest of the equipment in your system?

@soix

I'd suggest trying them out. I have found that intent, rather than cost is a stronger determinant of good sound with cables.

May post more later about my system(s). I'd also like to write about them in detail, so that's rather time consuming. We'll see. Your interest is appreciated and happy listening... if you want to chat more about cables; let's talk on this discussion post.

I may be mistaken, but I suspect the OP was referring to interconnect cable typology and not brands.

Hi Kevin. Thanks for attempting to clarify, so that I could confirm.

Cable topology and geometry is obviously very important. It could be telling us the brand name/model and/or additional information. Better if we can learn more from eachother.

For example, I have found Neumann RCA cables from the 1960s (mil-spec also) to be very transparent; but John's wire shop is a cut above.

So many good cables to choose now. Remember expensive cables does not mean they will match your system? Invest your time in auditioning. No shortcut on cables. You have to try them.
