Luxman L-550ax
Hi,
I have just bought a Luxman L-550ax. I bought it for the reason of eventually relocating to a smaller place and need an all in one. Due to that relocation, I will eventually need to get bookshelf speakers. I've narrowed it down to the Ascilabs C6B. They are 85db at 4 ohm. Will the 550ax's 40w class A be able to drive them in no larger of a room than 15' x 20' ?
Thanks for the help
well you certainly put the cart before the horse. WAIT, until you know the space ............................................. That Luxman, I'd like to hear it driving these efficient Tektons Who has heard them? they are evidently very efficient 98 db https://www.stereotimes.com/post/tekton-designs-double-impact-loudspeakers/ https://positive-feedback.com/reviews/hardware-reviews/tekton-double-impact-loudspeakers/

@bojack "The 550ax is actually a pure Class A design, so it does not transition to AB...maxes our at 40W into 4 ohms" -not really, it is class A amp up to 20W, assuming resistive 8 Ohm load. Driving 4 Ohm load, amp will stay in class A region only up to 10W, then it will be fine AB class amp! |
Coming back to this thread. Since, I haven't settled on speakers yet (I take forever ;) I have been using the Luxman as a headphone amp. I have realized that I am getting a fair bit of low buzzing noise when I engaged the volume (even in the lowest setting) I think it is from the transformer? Has anyone else had experience with this? |
