Why Don’t You Post Your System on Your Profile?

Many of you ask others to advise you, but the answer to so many questions is system dependent.  Why don’t you post your system on your profile prior to requesting help?

@vonhelmholtz

I wasn’t sure if I should laugh, or cry

Don’t cry, that would be even more effeminate.

BTW, thanks for starting this thread, now I got TWO systems posted instead of one.

What does that even mean??

It means that unlike the pretenders in this thread that got nothing but memes to post because they got no game, @ghdprentice doesn’t need to post dumb memes of dogs, he is building an "active center" channel speaker with the kind of "woofer" that we generally mean in this forum (although I get he has two pet dogs from his response).

@roxy54

Of course your you’re correct, thx

"and I hear your "expecting" an "active" little woofer who I guess will be the "center" of your attention for a while. I think you started a thread right?"

@kota1

Re: your last post, there is a difference in usage between your and you're.

and I hear your "expecting" an "active" little woofer who I guess will be the "center" of your attention for a while. I think you started a thread right?

Oh, you posted a pic of your system? Nice job, but, that isn't the type of "woofer" I would recommend. 😂

@nonoise

I've been holding back a lot

Good, you are almost there, just try a little bit harder. Maybe try a new thread?

@jetter

Since we have roughly the same number of posts I could say the same to you. However, you DID post your system so fine, let's discuss.

I see windows, hardwood floors, and some fine gear. My opinion is if it were my room I would measure the FR of the room and then drill down on room treatments.
Let me know if you need help, NP :)

Gee, thanks @jetter.  I've been holding back a lot. Every time he says I have to listen to my system in my car, so many mom jokes come to mind...and they're not nice.

All the best,
Nonoise

@kota1

You know, I understand why you think other members should post their systems and personally like when they do.  It is both interesting and provides some background about their audio journey and how you might interpret any advice they give.

You are probably going to take this the wrong way, but you know you just don’t seem like a good fit for this website. @nonoise is our resident rabble rouser, and you are being badly out maneuvered at your own game.

Ah, there’s that 12 yr old wit.

At least this 12 y/o has a system, LOL.

You are spot on of course about who the wanna be's are in this thread. Hell, if I had to listen in my car I wouldn't post anything either.

This is one of the most hilarious threads I have yet to see on Audiogon.

Another reason to go with active speakers, notice the XLR and RCA inputs with the toggle switch:

Now I can run the pre-outs from the Sony TAZH1-ES to the RCA inputs. It has its own remote control so it doubles as my dedicated two channel system, tada!

@bikeboy52

Posted the desktop system. I am a Carver fan boy and the Sunfire preamp/Carver amp makes those JBL 230's sound huge. The soundstage extends from floor to ceiling as well as wall to wall.

I have a whole house audio system in a addition to the 9.3.8 system in my media room. I will try and post a pic of my desktop system. If you look at the equipment in my media room I have a Sony TAZH1-ES pre/dac/headphone amp. My Paradigm Reference Active 40 speakers have both XLR and RCA inputs with a toggle switch. The XLR inputs connect to my Marantz processor. The RCA inputs connect to my Sony TAZH1-ES. If I want dedicate two channel all I have to do is flip the toggle switch. You can see the back of those speakers with the plate amps in a pic on my virtual system page. Will try and get the desk top posted too.

@kota1 i see that you have some images of a small home theater set up on your profile but dont see where you have posted your two channel hi fi set up, is that somewhere else? Im curious to see what equipment your running , thx in advance.

@vonhelmholtz

You just realized that? Looks like you’re trying to put some distance between you and kotex as he’s not doing your original proposition any favors.

He went way overboard with me and now he’s doing it to bolong. You latched onto him as a crutch and now you want to distance yourself from him. Good on you to recognize a failed partnership. Hope you learned something from it.

@vonhelmholtz

I think you got your question answered though. About 10% of people who don't post pics don't really care. About another 10% haven't learned how to use the website. The 80%  left that don't post pics are the "degenerates" doing the degenerating by hiding their tacky stereo systems with tactless posting skills, simple.

It seems that this thread has greatly degenerated over the last few pages of posts.  I was hoping to encourage members to post their system.  I continue to believe that your system might provide some perspective and vital information when asking for advice and offer some pointers to those asking for help.  Thanks for contributing your perspectives.

@bolong

This conversation became silly when you stated your mid-fi system was in danger if you posted a pic💤

My friends systems were heavy enough, but carting components out to a car or truck - well, even the old codgers here manage to pull that off. Speakers maybe not so much, but I would not be heartened to come home from a vacation and see only my speakers in my living room.

This conversation has now become officially silly.

@vonhelmholtz …”Your concern seems to me to be a difficult way for thieves to target wealthy individuals…”

+1 Not a realistic concern.

High end equipment weighs a ton. Not exactly ideal to extract, transport and fence. Also, a lot of us are retired and don’t leave  home often, have security systems…

My system is mid-fi by the standards here, and I still would not like to have it stolen

"I always lock my doors and am careful as to who I associate with."

Read your statement again. You're being, if anything, more paranoid than I am.

@bolong

Let’s just suggest that your posts on this thread are just a prank.  You certainly don’t want to avoid posting your system on one hand and then suggest it is because your system is so very valuable.

You don’t have to be paranoid to use insurance.  I always lock my doors and am careful as to who I associate with, so being careful is just being prudent/responsible.

"Why not just use google maps, or Zillow to locate areas with large estates and find a house with a ten car garage."

That works too except that it won't reveal exactly what is in the home.

You see, I have known three different people who had their entire home audio systems stolen, and I have heard of many more over the years. The funniest theft I know of happened during a party when everybody got quite wasted out in the back yard, and the thief just waltzed out with the living room system.

My home insurer strongly suggested I insure my system against fire and theft. Call me paranoid.

@bolong

Your concern seems to me to be a difficult way for thieves to target wealthy individuals. Will they fly, or drive to your area? They will require some real muscle to move a system. Why not just use google maps, or Zillow to locate areas with large estates and find a house with a ten car garage. Oh, let’s make it someplace local, so that they don’t need a plane ticket and have local connections to dump the stolen goods.

Honestly, someone that can hack this site will go after someone in the digital domain. Make sure that you don’t use the internet for any transactions and keep your money under your pillow.

Given the increasing ease with which hackers can bore into sites like this and get names and addresses, I would hesitate to post photos of my system that might tempt home theft.

Well, there is a certain wisdom to laziness...I think of it as a form of efficiency...
