Meta driver

I've had a pair of Kef Reference 1s for a number of years.  Is it feasible to have the drivers changed for Meta?

dbphd

No. It's not a simple driver change. The Meta version has a reworked crossover specifically tuned. You could ruin them.

Sell them as they are and get new speakers is a far better choice.

I don’t think so. Two different beasts.

I bought ls50 meta after ls50s and still have both.

Sell them as they are and get new speakers is a far better choice.

Yep. When companies offer an upgrade path it's highly touted, but the golden law of audiophile upgrades is that it's usually far better to SELL your existing component and then buy an upgraded unit (or something else) as 2 transactions.

We are a kef dealer and its not possible

1 kef does not

Just sell drivers and they would not sell drivers

to anyone other then a dealer

2 cost Kef reference drivers are expensive

You are best off

selling yours or trading them in

And yes the.Metas are significantly better sounding.

When I had a Q driver go out on my Reference 5’s, I had to ship it to New Jersey and they shipped it back to England to get the driver replaced! Then they shipped it back to me. There’s something about the Reference line, because I’m pretty sure that changing a driver on the R series is not that big of a deal. I also asked about them putting the Meta driver in both my 5’s and they said no, it. Couldn’t be done. Besides the crossovers being different there was something else that wasn’t compatible. Sorry I can’t remember what it was right now.
