I'm now a Cardas Woman. I used to be a Kimber gal

Well i was interested in the new Cardas Parsec. I bought one and went WOW! What have i been missing!
So then I bought another.. then went for the big one (seven meter pre to amp, big bucks)
Added a few more. Bought a used Golden Reference here to have for a tease..
So I went from Kimber all around to Cardas.
I liked Kimber, used them for-ever.. Nice, but this new Cardas Parsec has me. (Kimber has some catching up to do guys..) The Cardas is just more 'natural'.

This is like changing auto brand: Lifetime loyal BMW owner.. years of Beemers.. suddenly buys a Porshe! And LOVES it.

Some of them are still in shipment from Cardas. I am just so excited.

Congrats on the new cables Elizabeth. I never was much of a fan of Kimber Kables to be honest. I prefer the Cardas sound, though I only owned the Golden Reference, and I have not had a chance to listen to any of their newer Clear designs from Cardas yet.
I do not currently own any Cardas, as I moved on to Jade Audio, Purist Audio, Tara Labs, and Acoustic Zen. I am more of a mix and match guy now, as I have never been satisfied when using the full loom of any one cable brand. However, I have much fonder memories of the CGR than anything I've ever owned from KK.
Lesson learned: Never sell the old one until you are sure the new one is better. ;)

So Elizabeth.....now what are you? A Carber woman, or a Kimdas gal???

If you want to have fun Eliz..get a pair of the top AntiCables.....its very instructive. They take them back anyway for a refund if not satisfied.

In theory they have a money back guarantee, though the policy does not seem to work so well in reality. I tried the Anticable speaker cables many years ago, when they first came out. $80 for a 8 foot pair. They were good bang for the buck, but could be beaten for not too much more money, so I sent them back. I'm still waiting for my refund. LOL!!

After a couple of e-mails where there was much stated about confusion of order numbers and location, they did admit they received them back, but did not know where they went, I finally gave up. I figured I was only out $80, my time was more valuable than to keep chasing after them for a refund. No sense hiring an attorney for an $80 refund. LOL!!
@Pops, I also have never had success going full loom with any cable manufacturer, though I'm not sure that length has anything to do with it, since my longest cables are a 2 meter interconnect and 2.5 meter speaker cables.

IMHO, it's just like getting to know a person better. Some cable or person may seem perfect when you have just a little experience and time with them. As you spend more and more time with the cable, you begin to see the flaws that you didn't notice while just spending some time with them. Having more of the same cable design in one's system exposes more of the flaws inherent in that design.

That's just my theory as to why I've never been happy going full loom, I've got no hard evidence. Just because a little bit is wonderful does not mean that too much will be even more wonderful. All things in moderation. ;)

@Jmcgrogan2 If I do it again you must promise me you will smack me in the head...twice!

You got it Pops, I'll even throw in a third slap free of charge! LOL!!

If the day comes that I cannot run a full loom, I get rid of componets that must have effected the cables sound to perform poorly!

Aha! So you admit that the goal of owning all Tara Labs cables is more important to you than the overall sound of your system! I always knew this, but I'm glad you finally admitted it. LOL!

They broke the mold when they made you Keith. In my 38 years in this hobby, I have never met anyone as loyal to a brand as you, who wasn't on the company payroll.

Full looom is BS.

Expect to feel the wrath of Audiolabyrinth. ;)

I recently also bought a pair of 1m Cardas Golden Reference and am not so happy with them. they are too polite for me. And IMO kill the air in the room around instruments.

@Grey9hound, Elizabeth has already said the CGR is too polite, I would think that the Golden Cross would then be MUCH too polite. Elizabeth has also been on record as claiming that she really enjoys clean, extended high frequency response. So I doubt that she would have any luck with the Cardas Golden Cross, the warmest Cardas cable yet.
I know Dennis, no big deal. I just thought I'd mention it because Elizabeth had mentioned it earlier on this thread. Also, I am familiar with reading her desired sonic characteristics previously, and I think she likes a little brighter sound than you or I would. She has mentioned on several occasions that she likes the highs to sparkle, so I didn't see the Golden Cross reco as a solution for her.

No harm done, certainly no reason for Sunnyjim to get upset. Sometimes that happens when you walk into the middle of a conversation and don't really know what is being said though.

Anyway. just want to clarify my treble happy stance.
For me, if the treble is off it all sucks. For the rest, I can put up with what I would call minor flaws.. (and i am certain others would hate those flaws totally) Odd I guess.

That is why it is important to know what the person's tastes are, to help with choices. For me, you could replace the word "treble" with the word "midrange" and that would describe my listening preferences. Treble and bass are nice, if possible, but the midrange has to be right to get my toes a tapping. That's why they make so many different flavors. ;)

full loom is BS.

Now you're catching on Keith!
Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks?? LOL!!

You know this hobby brings with it a serious and sometimes lethal element of audio neurvosa, so why stoke the fires of others's potential audio obsession. If you got to preach from the pulpit(or throne which ever self image may fit you) preach moderation and financial self control.

There is no need to snap out at others just because you have emotional issues that you cannot control. That is very immature behavior. You really want to control your audio nervosa? Stop reading glossy rags and audio forums. Just leave the arena as promised. You are not only torturing yourself, you are torturing others with your whiny, sniveling, incessant babbling. Leave the hobby, it is obvious that it is causing you tremendous psychological pain and scarring. Get help, before it's too late.
