Cable recommendations for my new (preowned) system...

Hi folks,

I’m looking for some good suggestions on speaker cables and interconnects that will mate well for a system I recently put together:

Proceed AMP 2
Adcom GFP-750 preamp
Revel F30 speakers

My source is an Arcam irDAC for streaming. I will be adding a dedicated cd player (or transport) at some point.

Thanks,
JSB

what are you using now?

what’s wrong with what you have now ?     think you are missing something?

thinking you don’t want to spend a lot ?
Interconnects:

I'm a bargain hunter, and I like LOCKING rca connectors, you move something, you may disturb something else..

I bought TWO of these 99.9999 % pure OFC copper Video Component Cables

https://www.ebay.com/itm/122028614401

peeled them apart, ended up with 3 pairs of interconnects, and each pair's locking connector's are a different color. Simply mark both ends of + leg with red tape.
The Cable Company has a used cable site. Most cables are 50%.

Given your equipment I would recommend all copper which would not overly highlight the treble and generally be a little warmer. I would not spend a lot of money… say less than $50 per set. At the cost level if you spend too much the investment would be better spent on component upgrades. As your system changes the resolution increases and the greater the difference interconnects and cables become.

Typically:

copper is warmest
silver coated copper intermediate
all silver very detailed but will highlight any flaws in components
Speaker Cables: I built my own using OFC Cat 8,

https://www.ebay.com/itm/174307181712

pick your length, pick your color, cut off the connectors, strip the eight strands, put pure copper spade/banana/.... connectors on the ends

I used RED and BLACK, made twisted pairs, taped every 3 ft. Order a bit extra length, twisting shortens them some, cut the lengths after you twist them.

(8 x 22awg equivalent to: 13 awg)

spades/bananas/ ... : caution: pure copper, it could be pure red copper, you want OFC Copper, typical spec is 99.9999 pure. they will have a thin plated finish so they don't corrode. I use the type with 2 set screws, and they need to accomodate up to 8 awg to make sure your 8 twisted strands fit inside.
For interconnects, get a pair of Blue Jeans cables inexpensive interconnects.  They sound much better than the entry stuff from Kimber, Audioquest and all the others.  For speakers, go with the Canare 4S11 cables which Blue Jeans can make for you.  Very inexpensive and they will hit home runs with your equipment.
Even if you don’t have a tight budget, Canare is a great place to start. They do take a crazy amount of time to burn in or open up so don’t judge them for awhile. If you want the next step up in my opinion look at WyWires Blue series or if you budget is more then look at their other series. I’d start with Canare first though.

I’m a DIY http://www.venhaus1.com/diymains.html. kind of guy and just can’t justify spending big bucks on cables. They also sell them assembled.  Great quality at a nice value.  Their connectors are nice quality but a bit pricey.   I have even found some nice quality all copper connects on ebay and amazon.  I prefer a warmer full sound so intend to go towards all copper with gold plating connectors.  Cheers!

I recently wrote this for another Audiogon member seeking a good but reasonably priced interconnect:
A little over eight years ago I came across a very positive review of Stager Silver cables in Audiocgon: https://forum.audiogon.com/discussions/stager-silver-solid-interconnects-2.html
Based on that and other reviews and user comments on the Silver Solids website, I decided to try a one meter pair, given that I could return it inside of 30 days for a full refund if I wasn't satisfied.Long story short: They're exceptional cables, among the finest available probably at any price. Now my entire system is uses Stagers, and some friends who share my love of music, live and well reproduced, also have them and are very happy with them. And they are not as expensive as you'd expect for this level of excellence. (I just checked and the prices are still the same as when I bought them in 2013.)
Check out underwood hifi. I just purxhased speaker cables and interconnects. Amazing the difference.
Running Schiit bifrost thru black ice f22 and b an w Dm17s. Waiting for a pair of lsa signature 20 's. Cant wait.Steam Tidal mainly.
I personally love Acoustic Zen, their cables are priced decently relatively to value.
Check out tubes4hifi for very good quality German interconnects, about $50.  RCA terminals excellent quality.  Also low priced thick power cords.
I agree with what some others have said, go used. There are some really great values out there. The beautiful thing is,if they don't play well with your gear, you can easily sell them and recoup the cash, and try something else.  Enjoy the journey!
When I had a modest system I bought some real high end cables. They sounded terrible… passed along all of the signal. Twenty years later I pulled them out and tried them out on my vastly superior system. They sounded fantastic! Be careful not to get ahead of yourself.
Thanks for all the suggestions. To answer an earlier question, I’m currently using Mogami 3082 speaker and 2549 interconnects. I also have Discovery Essential speaker and Essence interconnects. However, I haven’t hooked up any of the Discovery’s yet as I have to maneuver the power amp so I can connect the rather short Essential speaker cables. Does anyone have any experience with Analysis Plus Oval 9 (original purple) speaker cables? And, what is the matching Analysis Plus interconnect to the Oval 9?
