Dampening VPI Cueing Mechanism
No suggestion, but I just lower it manually and control the speed of my hand movement. If I had installed the finger lift, I'd do it entirely manually. I forgot to do it in my haste to hear the turntable. Now, I don't want to install the finger li...
Newbie turntable Upgrade
Decades ago, I owned the first SL-1500. Previously, I had owned a $100 Pioneer belt drive. The Technics was twice as expensive, but in my opinion, not as musical, or expressed differently, I enjoyed it less. I haven’t heard or owned any VPI table...
Experience VPI Dragon and/or Mark Levinson 515 turntables
Same turntable. The VPI is less expensive. No brainer.
Low Cost Turntable - Incredible Performance
It's "you're," not "your," and the premise is totally absurd.
Low Cost Turntable - Incredible Performance
I suspect no one has commented because they feel the premise is absurd.
Audio Technica VM-95E Cartridge - do you need better Quality
@viridian  Disagree. I have two VM95e's and they stomp all over my 95C on the only tonearm I've listened to both on. Never owned the 540ML, but I don't like the 740ML, which has the same stylus assembly. I like the 750SH much better than the 740M...
Stylus/cantilever stiff and noisy--WARNING!
Agree with lewm. What he describes is very common. All or nearly all my cartridges play audibly at the record, regardless of age.
Recommandation for 1:6 1:8 SUT under $5K?
A 1:10 should work. Perhaps what you're hearing is not input clipping?
Two Paths to Musical Truth: The Case for Both Solid-State and Tube Phono Stages
@lewm  "After all, the goal is complete transparency to the signal in all cases." That might be someone else's goal. My goal is to have a good time.
Two Paths to Musical Truth: The Case for Both Solid-State and Tube Phono Stages
I record everything, so when I record, I typically have 2-3 phono preamps in use simultaneously. Some are tube, some hybrid and some solid state. I use what I think sounds best in any given situation, whatever is ready to go at the time, or whatev...
Excellent sounding LPs
I have multiple turntables, phono preamps, phono cartridges and SUTs, so I can mix and match to get good or great sound from most LPs.  I’ve been at this a long time, so I rarely purchase bad sounding LPs that can’t be made to sound good or great...
Possibly Looking for a Turntable/Cartridge Under $1000
@licarijo  The turntable matters greatly. If you can’t hear much difference, that doesn’t imply that others can’t. Also, couldn't disagree more about cartridges. Apparently, these differences are irrelevant to you, but they are not to others.
Good MM/MC coil cartridge for $100?
@viridian  At some point, I’ll take another listen to the 95C. I’ve only heard it with one tonearm/turntable (Schiit Sol), so that might have something to do with my perception of it.  I don’t have an issue with spherical styli in general as I’m...
Possibly Looking for a Turntable/Cartridge Under $1000
@ghdprentice  "Nothing wrong with my vinyl leg" I'd say there's plenty wrong with it if it can't beat your digital.
Playable LPs
I've never had more than 1000 or so at a time. I cull frequently. I'd say most.
