DAC Choices - $5,000 to $7,000
Hi All, I was so impressed with my used Mystique DAC that I ordered a new EVO 4B4, which I received in mid-November; so I have been using it for about two months. It took a while to break in and, at first, I thought I might have made a mistake. ...

@unsound  Ah, it all makes so much more sense... The speakers could be a maximum of 30 inches into the room measured from the front of the speaker. They would be positioned on the short wall anywhere from five to eight feet apart. The listeni...

@unsound Is this for an alternate system? Yes, it is. My wife inherited a property from her uncle so I need to stay within the boundaries of her decorating preferences. The room is 15 X 20 that WILL NOT have room treatments other than an area ...

@jafant and unsound B&W is not on my high efficient speaker list. I have heard various of their floor  standers and just do not like the treble. I think the 805's require like 50 watts minimum and my goal is something  where 50 watts would b...

@unsound ...the Thiel’s are just better... I suspect that may be right but I can't help wondering. Maybe I need to try a seond setup with a good pair of standmounts and tube amp just to try it.

@jafant Happy New Year - ALL Happy New Year to you as well! My life with my CS5i's continues. I made a major improvement in my sound with a new EVO B4B DAC. Added detail and musicality. I just added a Don Sachs DS2 preamp that is not yet full...
Line Stage Preamps that blew you away $2500 Edition
@gochurchgo ...My fear with passives is sounding thin... I own an Axiom II passive and I understand your comment. In my experience, ever, a thin sound could reflect how the sound of your source is is playing nice, or not, with the rest of your ...
When choosing new Speakers, what matters most to you?
Hi All, Good thread although I got confused, more than normal, with the buy American and auto sub-discussions. Entertaining but not necessarily helpful to select speakers🙂! Comments were made more than once that the speaker needs to fit the room...
Line Stage Preamps that blew you away $2500 Edition
@gochurchgo  I got my hours wrong, the DS2 has only 15 to 20 hours on it. Don't know where the 50 came from, although Don told me it would take that long to break in.  It started out with a bit too much treble, but that went away pretty fast; an...
Line Stage Preamps that blew you away $2500 Edition
I have been using a CJ 17LS2. Very good used for like what $3,500? New was about $5,500? Just acquired a new Don Sachs DS2 for about $2,800. Still figuring out how it sounds but after just 50 hours it is as good as the CJ if not better. FWIW   ...
Fritz Carrera BE vs. Harbeth 30.1
Hi All, May I ask a question? Has anyone listened to Tyler Acoustics Linbrook Sig or Taylo monitors and can you describe how they sound compared to Fritz Carbon speakers? Trying to get a handle on the Fritz "house sound", especially considering...
Compare Large Advent?
Hi All, Okay, can we please discuss the Large Advents a bit more? I am in the market for a set of stand mounts for a second system, which is the reason for this post. (Main system is PWT, EVO B4B, Don Sachs DS2 pre, DNA-500 and Theil CS5i's). R...
New Mojo Mystique X
@mitch2 While there may well be other DACs that listeners of electronica would like better, the B4B is far from "slow and syrupy" and it sounds very good in my system on all types of rock music, blues, and popular/vocals.  I agree. My new EVP ...
Mojo Audio Mystique EVO
@longinc  Good idea! I have a handful of favorites that I know very well. After listening a bit closer, the improvement in decay is exceptional to me. Seems to be part of the better separation between different voices and instruments. Should b...
