Analog Productions, Rhino High Fidelity, Original Jazz Classics - comments
I have been acquiring high-quality replacements and additions to my vinyl collection from Acoustic Sounds (Analog Productions) and everything about their engineering and pressings are stellar. Especially the UHQR and 45 RPM products. I have just placed my first order from Rhino High Fidelity and from reviews, I expect great things. Last night I came across a review of some Original Jazz Classics and it appears that they are exceptional as well. I was wondering if there are any other "Specialty" catalogs out there that are also focused on the silent heavy viny, analog tape transfers, and pristine pressings that i need to be aware of. I also have MoFi OMRs.
With any of these productions, I always look for reviews and comments concerning their comparisons to the best versions of an album before I spend the higher amounts of money.

@whart You are correct in saying - The answers are not binary - that is what makes the process interesting and rewarding. When it comes to taste in music, there isn't anything off the table. When it comes to DNA, I grew up in a small country town in Texas that exposed me to the 50s and up Country Music and becoming a teen in 1970 an getting our version of pirate radio after sundown, the (possibly) greatest 5 to 10 years of rock struck me hard. You know - an old shack in the woods with beanbag chairs, candles, Gerard TT, and Zeplin, Stones, Pink Floyd, Alice Cooper, Marley, etc... Into The Mystic I went. Singer Songwriter - especially region talent (Live) may be my favorite as I moved from my 30s to 50s. In the past decade, much deeper into Jazz, 90s Euro Techno, etc... As for new music - sources like this, my children now in their 30s, and constantly streaming high res digital (service). Listening to more Bluegrass, and Jazz and often going out of my comfort zone into Classical, Rap, DUB.... As for comparing the subtle differences between album versions, there are only a few records where that makes economic sense to me. I only re-entered analog in the past 10 years so rebuilding my collection is paramount and making the correct choices sonically and financially are baseline decision points. There is so much to buy to map to my lifetime of enjoying the music. |
@slaw...What label does Music Direct have other than Mobile Fidelity?
