Synergy - SO Important

I keep going back and forth between my PAD & Audio Magic 

speaker cables every month or so.  This system can really

show changes per component.  The Audio Magics give more

detail and a little more depth to the sound stage.  Just a tad 

less body/weight/warmth.  The PAD’s are a live show.  I can 

change that up with a tube swap that makes the PAD’s too mushy

and less detailed, the AM’s more fleshy.  A Rectifier tube has

proven three times to make audible difference.  A subwoofer’s 

addition has been as transformative as great tubes and room acoustics.

I’ve had amazing success with inefficient speakers and battery power

integrates paired with different speaker wire gages.  All through being a

cheap audiophile, but willing to push a budget once in a while and a lot

 of experimentation.  Everything matters, what a fun , and at times, exhausting, hobby!

Yep. My system is in a pretty good place with components and speakers, and I have been working on the details to make them all work together. Exhausting and fun indeed.

Op yes matching is very very important. I always see to it the amp and the speakers are match, and work from there. This hobby requires you to listen more hrs to your system until you get it right add one cables or components at a time while enjoying the audio journey. This will also improve your listening skills.

I am really confused about the craze about speaker cables.  I have somewhat of a background in electrical engineering.  A larger-gauge cable will conduct more electrons (14AWG > 16AWG).  But a conductor is a conductor.  Copper is copper (what most of us use).  I suppose the wealthier folks might use silver wire for slightly less resistance.  But cable should be an ancillary piece in support of the entire chain...

E = I * R
I = E / R
R = E / I

...or am I missing something?

Please, educate me...

If you only think numbers and measurements matter then the ASR forums might be a better match. BTW being an electrical engineer doesn't mean you are better qualified to tell anyone what is best for their own system or ears. How do we even know we are measuring the correct things? My guess is some systems are much more revealing than others especially with certain cables or other component's!
