If you get an upgrade get one with a removeable SSD, and keep a backup.
Bluesound Vault 2i died
I bought a Bluesound Vault 2i around 2022 and it has worked well since. I ripped all of my 400+ Cds onto it and used it for streaming. Most recently it asked for an update to which I complied. However, when I returned to check up, the device was stuck with a red dot on the front. My iphone app could not find the device. I disconnected and reconnected several times, including twice over night. I plugged in the ethernet directly to my Xfinity modem but to no avail. After contacting Bluesound support, they asked me to attempt rebooting several more times to no avail. Then they said I was out of the 1 year warranty, so my only option was to send it in and pay for 3rd party repair, or spend another $1000 on a new device from bluesound. That seems like an awfully short life for a piece of audio equipment (still have functional amps from the 70s) and has really soured me on Bluesound. Where did I go wrong? System: Parasound P6 and A21+ preamp/amp, topping DAC, Tekton moab speakers. I don't know what to expect from this community, other than perhaps a pat on the back "there, there..."

I second what @retiredaudioguy said: If you get past this, put your media on a drive somewhere else. This is the prime reason I will not ever have a streamer with internal storage. (Or a coffee machine with built in grinder!) If the machine goes, everything goes and you can lose your media if you don't have it backed up elsewhere. I have a Bluesound Node and my ripped media resides on a NAS hanging off the back of my router. Good luck with your issues! Happy listening. |
@musicfan2349 off topic but several years ago my daughter bought me an Encore coffee grinder - I have since replaced the burrs and the on/off knob. This grinder is made so that EVERY part is replaceable - if you go to the replacement parts page on the website you could build a grinder! EVERYTHING should be made (and sold) like this. Regarding OPs problem If you google is there any way to remove the drive from a non functional bluesound vault and copy its contents to my computer it describes how to do it - but you need to run a Linux ext 4 system. It is possible to run a Linux VM under Windows or Macos. Probably a bit of a pain but less than ripping 400 CDs again. Good luck.

my story goes like this. I purchased a Samsung flatscreen. After six months, it died. Did a warranty claim, And someone came out and fixed it. Then in another few months, it died again. Had to really ride Samsung’s leg to do a warranty repair, but they did. After that, found a Monster Power HTS 3500 power conditioner on craigslist(nib for only $50). Have moved on to an Audioquest Niagara 3000. It could’ve been a total coincidence, but after purchases of power conditioner, never have problems with anything. I can’t remember the last time I had to go reboot something. Once found a Tripp line conditioner https://share.google/QQCI5UTrLcoaA4MfYat Goodwill and gave it to a neighbor and she likes how it cleaned up the tv. Said it looked like she had cable. |
