Looking For A New Tube Integrated Amp With Very Specific Features
My Google Fu has failed me & I'm wondering if anyone here can make any recomendations..
Must Have:Class A Single Ended or Class A Parallel S.E.
1 Balanced Input
Easy to Bias power tubes
Remote Control for at least volume.....
REALLY want:Decent Headphone included.....Budget to $7500.00 but would love to spend less...
I appreciate any input folks, thanks much...
I don't know why particular design criteria is important, such as single-ended, class A, or even balanced--it is the sound that counts. The Cobra is okay to me, but I like the comparably priced and lower cost offerings of Synthesis Audio more (I heard direct comparison of the Cobra and the slightly cheaper Synthesis alternative that had a quite good built in DAC too. If I were interested in Audio Note, it would be the Oto or Soro, but neither has remote control of volume. |
@larryi certain design criteria are important to me because I find Class A sweeter than A/B & Balanced because it doesn't make sense to have a superior DAC & not make full use of it... |
In response to my note suggesting an Audio Note Cobra, "ghasley" wrote, "The Cobra isn't class a nor does it have balanced inputs." The Audio Note Cobra is a pure Class A amplifier. I have no idea where ghasley got his/her information, but it's wrong. On the other hand, he/she is correct about balanced inputs. The Cobra doesn't have those. We have a Cobra (and their incredible Audio Note CD 3.1x/II) and Quad ESL-57s. Like I said before, its the best sounding amp/pre-amp that we have found for our very picky speakers. |
