Is anyone still using a CD Player

I have a bunch of CDs and the Krell 505 player.  I find myself defaulting to my Aurender Streamer and never listening to CDs.   I’m considering getting a CD Ripper and loading them via HSD or SSD card and loading into the Aurender.  Thoughts?  Am I in the dark ages even keeping the CD Player?

YES (Ayre & Oppo)

In fact, many AAD CDs still sound better than AAD streaming IMO.

Excellent point.
I have the original AAD CD of Porgy & Bess with Ella and Louis. It’s ripped on SSD. No streaming version can touch it.
The original Kind of Blue CD is also AAD. I remember I jumped on a remastered version when it came out and was scratching my head trying to figure out what happened to the sound. The remastered disc was shelved and never played again.
Once again, the original CD beats streaming.
This isn’t to say there aren’t any good remasters. Just a few examples out of many why, if you prioritize sound quality, it is worth to keep CDs.

Unfortunately I don’t have a transport or a player at the moment but I am planning to remedy this at some point.

What do you do if you want to listen to something that is available on CD, but not available on any streaming source?  Do you have the streaming services decide on your universe of possible music?

Yes! CD and SACD only here. You have a great Player in the Krell 505.

Keep spinning!

Happy Listening!

Ripped CD sounds better than streaming. In my home with Naim Uniti core, which sends data via LAN to Streamer Lumin U1 Mini. Network Isolators, good Netswitches included. 🈵

Old habits are hard to break, so I keep on spinning discs.

Yes, the deluxe box set cost to get the one Blu-ray Disc can be frustrating, but to my ears nothing else comes close.

LP’s had to compress drums to avoid the stylus being thrown from the record grooves (correct?), and the Blu-rays don’t, apparently.
All I know is my oppo cdp205, Modwright edition, keeps me happy.

An inexpensive audioengine streamer confirms to me if I want to support the musician, and then I buy the disc.

Ultimately for me it’s about the music.
