Question for the older folks- did you ditch vinyl when cd arrived?

I kept all my LPs and most anytime I was in lower Manhattan I’d go into J&R music and often picked up an LP but for years my predominant purchase format was cd

zavato

When cds were introduced I started buying cds.  But I have a lot of vinyl, and a lot of the music I wanted was on vinyl and either not on cd, or was prohibitively expensive, or did not sound as good as vinyl.  So, I kept my vinyl.  Too, a lot of nit wits were dumping their vinyl and I bought a lot of vinyl that way.  Today I buy both and in the past couple of years have probably bought more new cds than new vinyl because a) they are more cost effective, b) the music is only offered on cd (i.e. Mosaic)), c) I prefer the sound of classical music, especially piano, on cd.  I have continued to acquire used vinyl although the salad days of give-a-way prices are over.

I did not ditch LP when CD arrived. I do buy less LP mostly because not available where I live. I do lots of streaming, lots of CD, and LP in binges...

Nope. I kept buying vinyl, some CDs as well. My preferred format is vinyl. No streaming at all.
