End Game Phono Preamp (tube)

Before you say ALLNIC a few caveats - I will only be using one TT so only need one input (MC). ALLNIC has up to 4 which is a lot of extra engineering I don't need and don't want to pay for. I'm coming from a very much loved Hagerman Trumpet MC with all the finest (to my ears) NOS tubes, external linear power supply, upgraded footers. It sounds terrific but I just have to scratch that itch to see if I can do better. If the only improvement I'll be getting by going up the food chain is less hiss, well, I can live with the existing hiss truthfully. I'd be expecting improved imaging, depth, resolution, cymbal decay beauty. Maybe I have it all now... if anyone has first hand experience with the Trumpet and can with an informed opinion offer a better option I'm all ears (hehe).

I would go Triangleart. They specialize in turntables and their linestage preamp has gotten very good reviews. I also happen to have one. It’s considered a boutique business but very good quality and great sound. If you don’t want brand new there’s one in an estate sale from David Weinhart that he’s accepting offers on.

@cey...@atmasphere is Ralph Karsten.  He manufacturers some of the best tube equipment out there.

Pretty sure he knows what he is talking about...

everyone else does, too...@mofimadness and  he should know what im pointing out its all over.

theres no fallacy or falsehood, @atmasphere. it is what it is.  its not my opinion but the aggregate experience and expertise of folks, especially tube audiophiles, whove tried headamps (or whatever you want to call and additional gain stage between an MC phono cart and the phono amp) and SUTs.

the consensus or near consensus preference is pairing an MC with the appropriate SUT.

sounds like you make a helluva phono stage, buddy. if i could afford it id pick one up.

@atmasphere

I appreciate the insight though even though I don’t understand the technical nuances you’re speaking about. Does Atma-Sphere make a stand alone phono preamp? If not, are there units you’re comfortable naming which meet your design criteria?
