Ethernet cable for TV

@soix I like the picture quality on the sony better and sony is known to be reliable. Check out the picture quality in the store. If you like LG better, go for it. Just don’t judge it too quickly and check if the settings aren’t turned up. 

I see that Sony caps its ethernet port speed at 100 Mbps natively.  Other than streaming games, is this causing an issue for anyone?

High end Sony and LG both limit ethernet speed to 100 Mbps. 

Strong wifi might be a better option. Sony uses wifi 6 and the LG wifi 6E in the G series, so the LG is better with speeds up to 700 Mbps.  I have a G with Eero 7 mesh and it never buffers.  

Or you can use a USB to Gigabit Ethernet adaptor to by pass the 100Mbps port.

Want to know what makes a bigger difference than changing cables?  Using an old OC as a pfSense server or rather an old PC that acts as a router.  I used an old i7 4770 with a dual 1Gb card, and it was a huge difference compared to my flashed R7 using ddwrt.  It never reaches over 1% CPU usage performing regular router duties.  Thus the fan never needs to speed up unless its getting clogged up, which takes something like 6 months or more at 24/7 usage.

As someone who works regularly with networking cable, I will say good cables make a difference. The number of time I've been trouble-shooting a device at work and tried a different ethernet cable (i.e. one that didn't come with the device) that solved the problem is legion. I use cat 6a at home. All my computers are connected by ethernet cables to a router or a switch. I use my TV as a monitor connected to a Mac Mini which has a 10G port. I can either watch movies from my NAS or over the web. I don't want the crap in the TV running the show. But I only sub to one channel so I'm not a streaming TV guy in general.
