@tooblue - cool, thanks. I used to be a fan of Solomon Burke in NY. He was accessible, we could hear him pretty easily. Roll ’n stutter. Had funeral parlors. And sold fried chicken during his shows back in the day during intermission. Guy was a classic. I think he actually had a clause in his contract at the Apollo, or legend has it, that gave him concessionaire rights during his shows. :)
Who do you turn to when you have the envies for funk?
FYI, envies, pronounced on-vees, is a cajun term for when you have the need, wants or have to haves for something usually food or music. As I cull and play grade my vinyl collection I am not so very surprised by how much funky music has made its way into my collection and thought it would be interesting to see who others go to for their funk. My go to artist for the most part are War, The Meters, Professor Longhair, Earth Wind and Fire, Sly the Family Stone, J Geils/Peter Wolf, George Clinton, James Brown, and Curtis Mayfield for the most part. Please add yours as I am always looking to get more funk in my life. Thanks for reading. Enjoy the music
