Yes Sir, parkergetdean, the link I posted is safe, but I do understand that some might hesitate. List #1 has the items of highest value according to my price searches. List #2 has equipment of lesser value and so on. It looks like next week I'll be listing items with prices individually on some platform, maybe eBay.
Items from audiophile's estate, list and photos link provided; helpful advice appreciated!
Hello,
I'm tasked with selling audio equipment from the estate of a late friend. I'm hoping to sell it all as a lot, but may have to list the best of the items individually. For pricing, I tried to find similar items at "SOLD" prices. I then reduced my price by 50% since I haven't tested any of the equipment. I want to be very fair, but the goal, of course, is to help with my friend's final expenses. I'd appreciate any constructive comments; thank you!

@foxwaves also consider interest already voiced here since we know the context. The fees are a little higher here, unfortunately. Direct links to your listings on this thread may be beneficial. US Audio Mart would also be encouraged before eBay. For the smaller or less valued items, Facebook Marketplace or even Craigslist may be good options - I’ve had a lot of success lately on Craigslist for whatever reason. This next piece may be controversial, but if I were in your situation and were selling low, I would consider accepting only PayPal Friends and Family - this reduces your liability as a seller and takes PayPal out of the equation if a dispute occurs. You’d be selling items as-is with no returns while also being transparent that you have not tested the equipment. Because of those reasons, you are selling low while also ensuring that the buyer understands the risks when making an informed decision. And I know you know, but if selling in-person always take a partner or use a public space. |
Thanks toro3, that's all good advice and appreciated. I'll do as you suggest when I have some items ready with prices for individual sale. I've never used US Audio Mart but will certainly check it out, too. I agree about Paypal Friends & Family, too. That said, I sure wouldn't want anyone to be dissatisfied with their purchase, and that might be tough when selling by mail. I'll be sure to explain that the items are untested, and sold only as parts only/non working or something similar. While all the gear could probably benefit from some TLC, my guess is most is in fair to good working condition with the exception of some of the obvious partial R2R units. There's no profit at all in this for me, it's just for my friend's final expenses. While I want to take care of this with his best interests in mind, I also want whomever gets one or more bits of his gear to be very happy. Thanks again for your thoughts! I'll keep them in mind. Have a nice week! |
