rodents getting into speakers via speaker ports

I am weary of speakers with open ports especially of those  that aren't covered by a speaker grill.   Most of us live in real worlds that occasionally get mice into our homes.   Also insects such as spiders and roaches also get inside speakers. Transmission line speakers sound great but with that open slot at the bottom looks like it is inviting rodent damage.

I bring this up as I watched a video on YouTube where a deadly Cobra got inside a speaker via a low uncovered speaker port.  The snake handler removed the speaker horn and  through the opening used tongs to pull the snake out of the speaker.

The link is time stamped to where the snake handler examines the speaker on the lying flat on the floor.

I myself would rather put a speaker in the dumpster and go shopping for new speakers than risk death from a deadly snake.

The guy must have noticed an exaggerated sibilance! On the serious side; I was thinking about the issue of rodents in my home as I had a warehouse issue that drove me nuts. Mice have gotten smarter. Really. I tried setting up cameras to catch the sneaky critters. Most cameras won't do the trick. One company I hired brought in "trail cameras". They work! I bought one to set up in the back of my audio system. It's motion activated. I've not had the issue at home BUT it's good peace of mind for not only watching out for rodents but Grandchildren as well.

Rodents in the garage, sure, but not in the speaker ports in the house. Made a sweet nest on the oil cooler of an '86 Carrera. It was a warm spot after that last late fall run, no doubt. I found the nest in the spring. No harm done that time. I've seen some chewed wires on an '18 RAV4 hybrid, and a nest in the under the hood insulation. So it goes.

But not inside the house man, as that'd call for a professional visit.
