rodents getting into speakers via speaker ports

My main living room speakers are acoustic suspension from the 1980's.  However, mice are getting through the cabin ventilation system of my 2017 Yaris ia.  From what I can tell the best rodent barrier  is copper mesh fabric.

My problem was a mouse nesting in my car’s engine bay. I resorted to an "electric fence" to keep the little buggers out. It would probably work for snakes and speakers as well.

They have a peppermint spray  spiders, mice hate  ,spray a bit on 1 x a week.

I'd be more worried when the venomous snake follows the mouse in to the Speaker's enclosure.

The mouse problem will be left as a ball of a hard fury mass within. 

I had an infestation of small, really fast spiders in my listening room. Finally after months I figured out they were living and breeding on the underside of both my Magico A3 speakers. No ports on the Magicos, but enough space created by their legs to create a breeding ground. I mean, who vacuums or looks under their speakers for Spiders from Mars.

Similarly, auto manufacturers often leave unsealed openings that invite mice into cars. I currently have mousetraps under the seats and have caught at least one intruder in our Toyota Corolla thus far.
