HiBy FC1 vs. just about any modern or vintage DAC out there.

Cost? Just around 20 dollars or so.

I doubt anyone will be able to tell a difference with their system.

Let’s assume  the following case scenario:

1. same speakers

2. same cables

3. same amplifier

The test:

Use a 3.5mm cable to RCA or balanced in to your preamplifier or integrated amplifier on a spare input.

basically, it’s 2v plus a little extra mw, designed to drive headphones.

If anything it’ll be a bit louder than your system, but fundamentally, you won’t be able to hear any difference between it and any solid-state DAC out there in terms of resolution, detail, timing, or instruments/vocals clarity.

Why? Because digital audio has advanced to the point where we are at its limits, and can shrink down the electronics this small, without sacrificing anything. Just look at how far computers and smartphones have come. Audio reproduction is no different in the digital domain.

I don't want to start. It's injurous to the health of any human being.

@audioman58

You again! With your allegations and false beliefs. No, I don't trust ASR reviews except for cables, headphones, and speakers. The ranking system over there with audio components is basically meaningless.

@kennyc

Can you convince your wife to sit with you and enjoy the music, or a friend who prior to listening to your system, had no interest in high fidelity? that's the real test. They sit there for 2 hours and just listen to music.

Now my wife is a complete idiot. she mistakes 10 to 15 mistakes a day. So maybe you have had better luck.

What happened? You stopped using AI to compose your responses for you and slipped?

@frank009, I'll loan you my spouse for a day.  She's used to what my system can achieve but wants to light it up with one switch.  Doesn't matter whether it's streaming, a cd, a lp, a cassette, the big screen, a dvd, or FM....

...and then there's the choice of speaker pairs, to sub or not to sub....eq or not to eq....

..and now moving and setting up in a smaller space that one can 'overdrive' db-wise to the point of flexing the sheetrock.

"As long as it's Absolutely Perfect....."

I've tried written instructions...but at least the amp has the sense to go thermal and shut itself down...

Reality is a strange beast at best. ;)

@knock1 Whatever you are smoking, enjoy it!

@frank009 I don’t smoke anything. I don’t even drink alcohol.

@knock1 - injury of brain matter may not be from external sources. Could be lack of development

@frank009 Can you convince your wife to sit with you..

You’re really clueless as to this hobby. We build our audio chains based on our own subjective personal sonic preferences, which may be beyond your understanding based on your limited/non-existant experience with high-end Sonics. As such, we don’t need vindication from those outside our hobby
