Why for the life of me I can’t stay awake when listening to Music?

I really don’t understand how someone can stay all night long listening to music? I read reviewers saying I started listening for hours till 2-3 in the morning. Well, I am 62 yo and as soon as I play music man I feel sleepy. I don’t think that is listening fatigue, it must be the opposite of it. I become so relaxed and my eyes start shutting down lol. Is that normal? Is it my equipments that makes me feel so relaxed or is it my advanced age? Can I do anything different to my system?
I am not sure if this topic came up before and may sound silly but I thought I ask in case someone else on this forum has the same issue.

@OP If your system puts you to sleep at any time of the day, I'd get a health check.

If it makes you drowsy in the evening, that may just be the music putting you in a relaxed state and hastening you sleep - and nothing wrong with that at all.

Before the advent of screens, it used to be that reading or listening to relaxing music were normal pre-sleep routines.

Go see a doctor go through your list of meds make sure no reactions.get a sleep study you may be getting enough sleep time wise but not quality wise check thyroid labs tsh,t3,t4 and testosterone level  b12 vit d.  Best of luck.enjoy the music

I've never used the system to relax except when I was the military and was in the barracks. I had a PS Audio front-end, Adcom 565's and B&W 802's and used to play nature CD's when sleeping.

I used to have opera tickets and often fell asleep. It was an expensive nap, but a very good one. Listening to music during a nap can be marvelous.

After you've checked your health, you might question what you do all day before you listen to music. I'm home all day and listen to music while I work and also in the afternoon. I hardly ever listen past 4 or 5. I've gotten too tired and know my mind isn't up to music. If I get a jolt of energy at night, I might do an hour or so more work listening to music.

However, I would not say that falling asleep while listening to music is the worst thing. I think you get a very restful sleep that way.
