AudioSage — free audiophile app, looking for beta testers (Android)

Hi everyone,

As a dedicated Audiophile I am always looking for ways to improve my knowledge and stay up to date on the news.

I built a free Android app for the North American hi-fi community — upcoming show listings, industry news aggregator, and show report links all in one place. Working on getting it through Google's mandatory beta requirement (need 12 testers). Android users — would appreciate 2 minutes of your time.

I have created a google groups list. You join the list and the first message tells you how to access without giving out your email.

I really need testers, if you can signup you don't have to install if you don't have the time.

What it does:
 

  • AI assistant (Gemini-powered) trained to answer hi-fi questions — headphones, cartridge matching, phono stage gain, speaker placement, system synergy, etc.
  • Philosophy tuned AI. Choose how you want your guidance: measurement driven, ear focused, or a balanced blend of both.
  • Aggregated news from Stereophile, Analog Planet, Audio Science Review, Positive Feedback, Enjoy the Music, and others
  • North American audio show calendar
  • Quick links to the major audiophile forums and used-gear marketplaces (SHF, Audiogon, Reverb, etc.)
  • Daily "Today in Hi-Fi" briefing
  • Video of the day

It's completely free — no ads, no subscription, no account required.

Honest feedback — good or bad — is very welcome. The whole point of the testing phase is to catch things before a wider release.

Just another step in a google search. I would think that by the time a person realizes they are an audiophile, they will have already a good understanding of how to gather information.

Good point. But with plain Google searching you will get a mixture of good and bad information. With the AI assistant you get a more intelligent summarization of information. For example, I was helping a friend with finding a good cartridge for his old EMT tonearm. Because of the lightness of the arm, it needs a high compliance cartridge for the best resonance and bass response. He had been recommended a ZU potted Denon 103. If you check many forum postings (google search) you will see people suggest this combo. But in fact this is a poor combo since the Denon low compliance when paired with the EMT arm the resonance frequency is pushed well out of the acceptable range and result in poor  bass response which we heard. AI was able to inform us with this information with the math calculation to back this up. Good luck just using search.

The Dinosaurs of Audio i.e, regular forum contributors, are off the view they have taken their Audio as far as they need to when they use a 'App'lication to support their Streamed Content.

The future of Audio is portable, not stationary and 'App'lication saturated.

As an App launch and request for Beta Users, I suggest a change in the demographic is looked into.

AudioSage is gaining momentum. Remember this is the beginning. Many paths and ideas are being generated. You can shape its future by your input. According to Google I have to hang on to my testers for another week or so and then I can publish to the public Google app store. Tell your friends. If I get 100 downloads once it is live, I will pursue a iPhone version. Google charges a one time fee of $25 to developers. Apple, charges $100 every year to developers. It makes it more expensive for small developers. Thanks.
