@yyzsantabarbara Thanks for your help and feedback on the D-1. I am actually looking for more detailed sound especially lower level detail. I'm almost done with lots of new room treatment I installed after doing room measurements with REW so looking forward to a DAC upgrade. The A-80 amp has a signal to noise of between 123-129 dB so its very quiet and has adjustable gain. I also think it should be a good match. I'm looking forward to a home trial. I know we have always had lots of the same equipment so I definitely value your input on this.

@willywonka got it. If you’re looking for a DAC with good preamp section and you have access to a Meitner dealer, the MA3i shouldn’t be overlooked. It might potentially even eliminate your Aurender N200. The streaming card in the Meitner is really good. With top notch Ethernet cable it’s most likely all you need. Just a thought. 
 

@willywonka I added a bit more to my previous post after posting. Check out the Schitt Singular DAC if you are looking for detail. It is also 4x less expensive than the D-1 and can go into a preamp without too much fuss. The Singular is also able to go direct to amp, and you can control it with an iPhone (any maybe Android today). It does not do DSD which is what I need to play my SACD's.

Unfortunately, it needs a lot of break-in and the 15-day home trial is not long enough for that.
