Do you buy new, used or new or used gear?

I know some folks that will only buy new gear, and others that will only buy used gear, and of course, those that will sometimes buy new and sometimes buy used gear. Where are you on this spectrum?

Personally, about 1/2 my main system consists of gear that was bought used (or store demo), and none was the worse for it.

Mix of new, open-box and used.

I haven't been able to afford to buy everything new but it hasn't been a problem, so far.

All used started with ADCOM pre and amp,cd player. True story I messed up shorting out my amp i lived an hours drive away from thier place in new brunswickish area any way they not only repaired it while I waited they went through the amp making changes as they saw fit and gave me back a new updated version. Long live ADCOM their closed right?

I buy mostly used - especially the expensive electronics and speakers.  Mostly McIntosh and Wilson for me.  Many of my cables and my Linear Power supplies I also bought used.  I bought my streamer and audiophile rack new.  So far, no issues, no regrets....  Audiogon and Audiomart are mostly where I shop.

Used. 99.999 percent of the time. In 40 years in this hobby I’ve only purchased 2 new items ever. They were a dac, and a cd transport. Purchases have mainly been, rec.audio.marketplace, 1990 to 1996, Audiogon, 96 to 2004, and USAM since 2004. Only had one issue, on AG when someone listed a brand new amplifier. Problem was he sold it to me, and then sold the same item to 12 other people. No one ended up with the amp. Completely fraudulent ad using fake ID. Every other purchase went off without a hitch. I must have purchased some 300 plus different components over 40 years. What can I say, other than clean living.
