Coda 16 Meter Color?

I'm thinking about getting a Coda 16 amp in silver with the meters and I wondered if anybody had an informed preference between the blue and amber meters?  Blue looks snazzy with the silver case but I'm concerned it will be too bright and distracting in the room.

@yyzsantabarbara The Coda 16 would be displacing a pair of Krell FPB 650M amps which I have used successfully with a lot of different speakers but a friend lent me his 16 and I liked it better.  Would it be fair to say that the Coda 11 was the precursor to the 16?

I had the Coda 8 with meters, only because the dealer gave me a deal on it over the meterless model. They are nice eye candy for a bit, but overall pretty useless and they are a distraction. Just my two cents, or is it a nickel now?

I actually have the Coda #8 with Blue meters and like it although I rarely use it anymore. I was also given a deal on the model with meters a couple years or so back.

@pinwa My #11 is 30 years old and I got it used for $2400. I sent it to Doug Dale at CODA to take a look at it and he said it was the cleanest looking #11 he had ever seen and the only thing needed was to upgrade the speaker connections to the same as the #16 (+ slight bias adjustment). Sending my #11 in helped him with another customers #11 so Doug gave me free labor and shipping. I paid $150 for the cleanup. CODA is a great company to deal with.

I had the #16 and the #11 side by side driven by the great imersiv D-1 DAC. I was not sure, but I was thinking the #11 (precursor to the #16) sounded better on my system than the #16. A good friend of mine came over (he has musicians’ ear) and listened and without me giving my opinion he said the same thing. Like the #16 the #11 is also a beast with finesse.

The #11 is a bit warmer than the #16 and maybe a slight bit less resolving. However, my DAC is the most resolving DAC made and that makes for a great match with the #11. The #16 and the D-1 was maybe a touch too resolving (first world issues).

Saying all of this the #16 is a great amp. If money were not an issue I would still be using in my low-cost office system where it took it to levels of sonic bliss that it has not approached since. The #16 was too good an amp on that system.

K mart blue light special. Walmart strongarmed them told them to merge or he would push them out. Business can be competitive  but I don't think Mac has pattent on the color blue but could lawfare coda like k mart. I like blue meters now there are some chfi that have a mic in them and do analog meters blue. I have several led blue dancing array that's quite fun and less that 100$ . I would like to try the coda 41? I think that's the number in mono. I have some esl that sanders was involved in early on and he sub the amps to coda there great.enjoy the hunt
