@rbstehno Me, neither, for pretty much the same reasons.
The nearest that I've come to disappointment like that was the struggle with a smaller room after moving house, but I've more or less come to terms with that now.

Newton_john, I also went thru this when moving to a new house. I went from a large dedicated audio room to a room almost 1/2 as small, so my large set of speakers had to go. So what I did is buy a smaller, more current speaker sized for the room, from the same manufacturer that I had earlier with the same sound signature that I liked. I then removed the 1st reflection panels that I didn’t need any longer, and bought 2 smaller subs from the same manufacturer that I have owned before and liked. |
I have only auditioned speakers and yes for 3 Wilson Audio models. I have never understood how people place so much value on the audition at a dealer when we all know it all comes down to our system and room. On the flip side, I wonder how many people were fortunate to have the same or better sound when they got the gear home. This is why I have only purchased used gear and made several wild road trips. |
@dhite71 interesting how you mention Wilson Audio speakers. When I was shopping for speakers, and ended up with my Revel Studio 2’s, I also listened quite a bit to a pair of Wilson’s. I really wanted to like them, but they didn’t do it for me. My current speakers, which I’ve owned over a decade, have proven to be more satisfying over the long haul than I could have hoped for. |
