Today " May their sacrifice never be forgotten "

Well said. May all citizens of all nations pay respect and humility and eternal gratitude to those fallen and wounded soldiers and citizens and the families affected by war. I like to imagine the wars where the leaders of nations and their families fight on the front line? We might just have fewer unnecessary wars.

I find it ironic that all it takes to start a war that can result in massive casualties is one deranged leader.  Even more ironic is the fact that these leaders often utilize the same "play book" of strategies and rhetoric and people somehow continue to be swayed, decade after decade, century after century. When will we wise up?

Those who pledge/give their lives to ensure our survival deserve the utmost respect.

I asked lots of school kids what holiday is it? NONE of them knew. They had no idea. When I told them Memorial day they still had no idea what that meant either.

A day to remember something?" Another said it was about MLK.   It's not mentioned or talked about in school. Maybe it's the school policy not to bring up ANY topic with the word "war". They remain shielded and clueless. Sad.
