Steppenwolf

Someone recently said, "I think it's time we gave Steppenwolf a second listen."

So I am. I bought "Magic Carpet Ride, The Dunhill/ABC Years 1967-1971"

I like it so much that when I was wondering what was in the CDP this morning I thought,

"That's not Steppenwolf! This is BS!"

Does anyone else feel the same?

Being a big fan b/c takes me back to my roots I recently found the SHM CD of the first album entitled Steppenwolf. It's a pretty good recording and every cut is a winner. Love Mike Monarchs guitar work you know it's him right away. He was a 17 y.o. kid when the album was recorded and he is still writing music. John Kay is 82. Listen to the last cut The Ostrich an environmental song that could've been written yesterday.

Once being a dedicated biker, and going to numerous bike week type events, I've probably seen Steppenwolf more times than anyone else except GD and bands I've worked for/with. Love those guys.

I still have several Steppenwolf albums in regular rotation.  Outstanding in several ways.  Wish I’d seen them live.  Not many heavy rock bands could make a classic version of a Hoyt Axton song.
