Steppenwolf

Someone recently said, "I think it's time we gave Steppenwolf a second listen."

So I am. I bought "Magic Carpet Ride, The Dunhill/ABC Years 1967-1971"

I like it so much that when I was wondering what was in the CDP this morning I thought,

"That's not Steppenwolf! This is BS!"

Does anyone else feel the same?

Heavy metal thunder.  The line that was used to define a musical genre.  Very cool.

My first concert as a teen circa 1968, with seats close enough to the stage to burn California cool into my skull.  I could not have guessed that John Kay (born Klaus Karl Kassbaum) and Nick St. Nicholas (born Joachim Fritz Krauledat) were both born in WWII Germany.

Being a big fan b/c takes me back to my roots I recently found the SHM CD of the first album entitled Steppenwolf. It's a pretty good recording and every cut is a winner. Love Mike Monarchs guitar work you know it's him right away. He was a 17 y.o. kid when the album was recorded and he is still writing music. John Kay is 82. Listen to the last cut The Ostrich an environmental song that could've been written yesterday.
