Have you ever thought it would be cool to have a stereo reviewer come to your house?

While I was listening to my system today, I started thinking it would be really fun to invite one or more stereo system reviewers from magazines or blogs over for a blind listening session. I wouldn’t let them see the room or the equipment at all. They could play whatever music they like, form their impressions, rate the system, and even guess how much was spent on it. After that, I’d reveal everything and see how close they came. I’ve always been curious how my setup stacks up against the kinds of systems these reviewers hear all the time.

I always wanted to bring my speakers to the showroom, hear them on their system, in their room.

After talking about JSE, Richard Modafferi’s Patents, I described my Vintage Electrovoice 4 Way Speakers to Jeff Josephs once, he said, "bring them in, I’d love to hear them".

Of course, over 100 lbs each, and no cartons, worried about damaging the Rosewood Veneer, I never did.

I should have, it would have been a great memory. Of course you have to risk disappointment. His speakers look and sound a cut above for sure!

What fun as the reviewers have heard alot  of equipment even if thier biased.enjoy the music.

Most of Tas reviewers have 6 figure audio systems they snub their noses at say a $40k system

myself having owned a audio store each step  to gain say a 10% increase past $50-60k could cost $30+ k the jumps in sound quality start really becoming  costly.

synergy is most important as is the room paramount  in damping and absorption to

get the most out of your system.Everything  counts !!

That’s why they would be blindfolded without seeing the room or equipment. I want to see if they can really hear the difference and how much that difference is decided by price and brand names.

@audioman58

Yep, some of the TAS reviewer's have expensive rigs that they probably got for free or at least for cost and then took that cost and took it off their taxes.
