James Brown, Taste of Orange County, June 21, 1996. Best of all, I got to watch him rehearse his band for two hours in the afternoon before the concert. "The hardest working man in show biz" was no joke!

Certainly Jimi Hendrix and Moby Grape in 1967 stands out...Peter Paul and Mary with Thelonius Monk at the Hollywood Bowl in 1964...Ravi Shankar in Honolulu in '68...I worked with Julian Lage (mixed the show) before having heard him (!) and his trio (Scott Coley and Kenny Wolleson) and THAT was amazing. My band opened for Zep in 1969 during part 2 of their first tour of the US...a memorable time was had by all! 

Oh then there was the Stones free concert at Hyde Park, London in 1969.  But that was a couple of years ago!

@ubercar71s - I understand your selection.  I saw them in 1975 (Kieth Moon still on drums) when they played a 20+ song set heavy with Tommy, Quadrophenia, and Who’s Next tracks.  An outstanding event for sure!
