Can Audiogon compete with AudioMart (US and Canuck)
Yes, of course!
The market is big enough for multiple sellers. Sales do not go to zero if competitors are less expensive unless grossly so.
@parkergetdean, you'll get there eventually! I know you are starting your journey, welcome to the machine. |
@yogiboy Nice writeup except I think you omitted a category: most of how you described USAM (ex: Often the most price-sensitive, deal-oriented buyers) actually applied better to FB Marketplace. I have bought and sold a LOT of gear over the last 25 years on a variety of sites, including newspaper classifieds (!), the Recycler, craigslist and others besides the ones you mentioned above. For myself these days I heve better luck buying and selling on USAM/CAM and FBM. I do buy on Audiogon but seldom sell here. I have never had a bad transaction on USAM; I can't say that about A'gon. Having said that, I admit that the discussions in the forums on Audiogon are second to none, IMO. I love coming here but I don't see a lot of gear here that I am interested in. This seems to be home of huge SS amps and refrigerator-sized speakers. Or at least guys who aspire to these lofty audio goals...
