Considering the BMR Philharmonic Monitor speakers

I have a pair of CSS Audio 1-TDx monitor speaker that I like very much, but have for along time considered these Monitors.  I am hoping to run them with my Don Sachs 2 preamp and a First Watt J2 amp, with 25 wpc of Class A power.  I have other more power amps, but I really love the J2.

I'd be keen to get any impressions from others about their sound and performance and your thoughts on amp pairings.

Have the BMR monitors for a few weeks and consider them outstanding. They replaced a pair of KEF 103.3 speakers I've had for over 30 years. They are on low wood platform / stools, Has to look acceptable to the wife as well.

Put on a set of Isoacoustics Iso-pucks that don't have to be threaded into the speakers. Amp is a Hafler XL-280 and drives the BMR's without issue (except it's old tech).

BMR Monitor and Towers w/ ribbons are/were great.  Not sure what the AMT's will do, but I never liked them as much as ribbons in other use cases.

I bought the BMR Towers a month or so ago used and am loving them. I second everything @simonmoon wrote. I was having a bit of issue with some high end harshness that was more of the amp than the speakers and I seemed to have tamed it with copper speaker cables from Duelund.

Stereophile: 86.5dB/2.83V/1m - The BMR Monitor is a very demanding load for the partnering amplifier.

Its current-hungry impedance will require careful amplifier matching.

OP - First Watt J2 amp, with 25 wpc of Class A power

You don’t have enough power to run the BMRs. It’s not just softer, but you need current to control the lower bass unit in both starting and stopping/braking upon the return.
