It's difficult to mention The Blues without including Lightnin' Hopkins and John Lee Hooker. Their recent reissues on the Craft Bluesville label, Blues In My Bottle and That's My Story are outstanding as is the entire series.
What blues are you listening to today?
Blues is by far my favorite and most listened to genre. I don't know how many of us are in here, but I thought a continuing thread of this kind might be of interest.
I'm listening to Buddy Guy's Sweet Tea. Buddy's covers of Junior Kimbrough, T-Model Ford, CeDell Davis and the like are awesome. Jimbo Mathus sitting in on rhythm guitar doesn't hurt!
So what blues are on your system today?

Anything on Possum Records and stream this during the day as background. https://bluesflac.com/ |
It's good to hear from all the blues lovers out there. Great blues artists from y'all. One of my faves is Tommy Castro and many already mentioned. Went to Beale Street in Memphis many times for live blues when I was younger, the top performers don't start till about 10 pm but it's worth waiting for. |
@howardlee -"Saying Zep is the blues is an interesting idea. Page would laugh his ass off at you." Page would likely not be laughing. Here he is on the subject: “The blues – I mean, it’s just undeniable. It was just an undeniable element of everything that was going on in Led Zeppelin." "Ultimately, I wanted Zeppelin to be a marriage of blues, hard rock and acoustic music, topped with heavy choruses-a combination that had never been done before. Lots of light and shade in the music." |
