I no longer have anything that uses power tubes. I currently only use Dual Triode tubes (12au7, 6922, 7308 and…) and they last 9-15 thousand hours, so to answer your question, very little.
Just how much do you spend on tubes per year on average ?
I don't mean if you have $50k tube supply in the closet, I mean the cost of tubes that you wear out and throw away.
With my VAC Avatar SE integrated, and I use only better vintage tubes, it runs about $300 so far. I buy both new and used tubes. I do have $2500 tube supply in the closet. The amp is on for at least three hours a day, often longer.

@inna running power tubes beyond 2000 hrs is very risky in my opinion. I had a power tube failure in Rogue ST100 amp and it took out several parts on that channel. Was repaired by Rogue. I sold the amp shortly after. I also had NOS small signal tubes go bad in preamps but they usually fail more gracefully than the power tubes. They became microphonic, were farting and making other weird noises. All tubes were purchased new from upscale audio or tube depot. Several failed in a course of 5-6 months. |
@audphile1 How do you keep track of hours? |
