Thanks to you starting this thread, it got me interested in learning the stories behind the songs. Fascinating stuff!

Example:

John wrote Dear Prudence while they were over at that retreat in India during their transcendental phase. Mia Farrow and her younger sister Prudence were there at the same time. Prudence got so deep into trying to attain transcendence, she wouldn't leave her hut for really long stretches at a time. This worried everyone and they were constantly banging on her door to see if she was ok. So the whole song and 'Won't you come out to play' evolved from that.
