Mine is Hey Jude

@tomcarr ,

Thanks to you starting this thread, it got me interested in learning the stories behind the songs. Fascinating stuff!

Example:

John wrote Dear Prudence while they were over at that retreat in India during their transcendental phase. Mia Farrow and her younger sister Prudence were there at the same time. Prudence got so deep into trying to attain transcendence, she wouldn't leave her hut for really long stretches at a time. This worried everyone and they were constantly banging on her door to see if she was ok. So the whole song and 'Won't you come out to play' evolved from that.

Tomorrow Never Knows

While My Guitar Gently Weeps

and too many more to name…

From an “audiophile - ish” perspective…

Baby, You’re A Rich Man

The opening bass line run by McCartney and the Claviola (I think that’s what it’s called) keyboard from Lennon are great tests of your systems bass depth / detail level and midrange soundstage, respectively.

That bass line descends so smoothly (and so low) as to make a virtual “pressure wave “ at the low point(s)… and those keys meander delightfully across the soundstage at various times and at various speeds…

I know that on my vintage system I can truly “feel” the bass as strongly as any kick drum; and the keyboard is almost “surround sound” like - you feel like it’s all around you… as if the instrument was being played while Lennon was walking in a circle around your listening room.
