So…Much…Music!

I added my first streamer to my system about 8 months ago. This is not about the unit I bought. But rather the discovery of a world of new to me music. There is soooooo much that I had never heard!
My CD collection is just over 2,000 titles. Yes there are many dogs in there. But it mostly titles I like. But when I got the streamer, oh boy. So much more to discover!
I still listen to CD’s every day. In fact I bought a new player a couple months ago. But I am so happy with all the new to me music I’m finding via streaming. Love it!!
Anyway, thanks for listening to me.

I started streaming around 2011 when it was .mp3 quality but the ability to find so much new music was irresistible. If I liked something enough I would buy it. But with so much new music that became untenable so I would just listen to it as is. I had some magic boxes that helped the SQ (Aphex,BBE).

I was so excited when hi res streaming started and I could really hear that music through my system. I could never go back.

Wow!

This thread is revising my opinion of audiophiles and music lovers. We're not all stuck in listening to the "audiophile approved" list of recordings.

I post often on the SteveHoffman forums, and so many over there are stuck in the past. They seem content to listen to the same 60’s and 70’s albums over and over again, and paint all new music with the same broad brush.

It is refreshing to see people of a certain age, still embracing the discovery of new music.

I have added a streamer to my system about 8 months ago using Qubuz. I use it largely for researching new musicians, bands, composers, etc. But it certainly sounds as good as my other sources.

1746 artists in my Roon library and I listen to them all, many discovered via streaming.

Listening to music is why we buy audio equipment. WE keep searching to find true happiness in out system and music. With the price of gas is cheaper to just seat home and explore your library of vinyl  ,cds ,cassettes, Reel to reels ,streaming....relax and enjoy.
