Recent Roon Update

Never having Roon, I don’t understand the fascination. To me it’s like it was the first car on the block. Now there are like 20 cars to choose from. Why does one still get stuck on Roon. I am truly just wondering 💭. 

@vandy357 N20 can’t be a Roon server. It can only be a roon endpoint. 
you can install Roon on any computer that has a compatible operating system. 
In your case the N20 using conductor should sound at least as good as it does as a Roon endpoint and even better due to conductor proprietary processing. 

@audphile1 I meant endpoint, to me that should mean server also as far as Roon is concerned, because when Roon is looking for your endpoint source it says looking for your roon server.  The Conductor app and Roon sound about the same to me, I just like Roon a little more.  When I am using the Conductor app I miss being able to view the lyrics in writing like I can with Roon.  Honestly, even though I like some aspects of both apps, I don't really like either one of them all that much, it's just a means to an end.  The only reason I got into Roon to begin with is because I wanted to try the 432evo, I can tell you it does give the N20 a run for its money, some music sounds better with it than the N20.  So, it was either Roon or Logitech SqeezeBox, I don't want a sqeezebox anything.  Roon was recommended by Dave from Audio Intellect, so that is what I got, and it has worked OK for over 2 years. 

@gkelly I don't really care for any of the app's that I have tried so far.  With the 432evo my only 2 options were Roon, which was recommended, and Logitech SqueezeBox, which I don't even want to try.

  At least I didn't sell my N20, I was going to, but I just couldn't bring myself to pull that trigger.  So, for the time being I am going to try to make myself like the Conductor APP a little more than I do now.  It's either that or try to make the N20 my Roon server.  AHH, the things we do for this passion!

@vandy357 roon core is the server. N20 is the endpoint for roon. The conductor app is pretty good. I used to own N200. And it didn’t sound as good as a roon endpoint compared to using the native conductor app. It’s close though so I’m not surprised some might not hear the difference. But…at least you have a way to continue to listen to music after your evo got bricked.
