Any thoughts on the new Schiit Buf tube buffer ($99)?

I have no real interest in a tube buffer but, for $99, it might be fun to play with on a secondary system.

Switch it on/off on the fly.  Hey for $99, something fun to do. Buy 10 and give them to your friends as stocking stuffers for Christmas, LOL cheeky

At the high gain setting (+4; 12 dB), its harmonic distortion (HD) is similar to the Valhalla 3 driving 300-ohm headphones in high gain. By comparison, the buffer stage in the Freya+ has slightly less second-order HD and a quieter background.  However, for $99, you get a linear power supply (almost unheard of at this price) and a respectable noise level. It might be worth trying if you have no prior experience with tube sound or tube rolling.

I have an old teac r2r. Sounds flat, dry un-engaging. Little tube buffer I bought makes it far more enjoyable for me to

hear while I work.  This one is clearly built far better..there are uses for such a thing.   I’m going to check it out.
