At the high gain setting (+4; 12 dB), its harmonic distortion (HD) is similar to the Valhalla 3 driving 300-ohm headphones in high gain. By comparison, the buffer stage in the Freya+ has slightly less second-order HD and a quieter background. However, for $99, you get a linear power supply (almost unheard of at this price) and a respectable noise level. It might be worth trying if you have no prior experience with tube sound or tube rolling.

Yes musical fidelity and modwright both make them.there are some chifi on ebay and Amazon. The tube buffer adds soft clip to make the sound of tubes. This is a great way to experiment and try sound out. SEveral companies make tube preamps,cd players and amplifiers with tube stage in solid state. At this price it will sell out. |
